My Sunday routine is very much the same most weekends, however this weekend I had to do it all alone. The Boy is in the Bahamas with his friends until Monday. How rough is that? I am pretty jealous. Super jealous, especially when he sent me a photo like this on Thursday afternoon when I was at work.
Pure Jealousy! This girl could use a tan much more than him.
As I sat home sulking about being home in the rain when The Boy was on the Beach, I still went about my normal routine for the weekend. I had to do everything on my own. I really think he owes me for this… maybe some flowers or a nice lunch. I hope he is reading my posts this week
Sunday is grocery shopping day. I start the morning with a cup of coffee and the newspaper. I normally look at all the ads and cut coupons, while The Boy reads the sports section. I didn’t read the sports section in his absence. The Twin’s disappoint me too much.
I plot out the grocery list and pull out all my coupons before we head out to the store. Cutting coupons makes me feel so accomplished. I love showing off the $ saved portion on the bottom of the receipt. The Boy rolls his eyes most days and gives me a “That’s great babe,” and keeps on driving home. It just makes me smile!
We normally stop at Sam’s Club to do some bulk shopping on fruits and veggies, and then make a pit stop at Rainbow Foods for odds and ends. We buy lettuce, tomatoes, yogurt, berries, eggs, juice and a few other things in bulk. Some weeks we grab meat and veggies on sale, but normally only the stuff that goes into our lunches is bought in bulk. Once we get home, before I do anything else, I clean and pack away all the produce. I know that when I wait it never gets done and things start to go bad real quick.
I try to pack 4 days worth of lunch for each of us all on Sunday’s. Why 4, not 5? We like to go out to eat sometimes or like to take leftovers so I don’t like to over make lunches. This is a strategy built on weeks and weeks of left over lunches.
I cut up and pack all our berries in small cups. We love berries. Blackberries are The Boys favorite, and strawberries are mine. We get a mix of both in our lunches. I piled our mini bowls in the sink and start stacking. I make 5 each of the fruit, we will eat that not matter what we have for lunch. Lots of little bowls!
All ready for the fridge and for lunch for the week Yeah, yeah a little mix and match on the tupperware, but it works.
Then on to salads. I make a simple salad of lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and some meat for me. For The Boy I make a salad similar to mine but add pickles and stack more meat on top. Then I pack bread with mustard in a ziplock bag, so he can build his own sandwich at work and have a small side salad. I hate when my sandwich is all soggy from the meat by lunch time, so I like the assemble your own approach. My sink makes up for lack of counter space once again. Those are my salads. YUMMY!
Look at my fridge. All stacked so neatly.
Our lunches are ready for grab-n-go each morning. I love the extra 10-15 minutes of sleep this allows us. I love my sleep.
Maybe if you are lucky I will show you how we have gained another 10 minutes back in the morning recently by making breakfasts ahead of time too, but that is for another day.
Off to get my beauty sleep
