Friday Ramblings {January 27th}

Happy National Chocolate Cake Day!!

You should go make your self my Peanut Butter Buttercream Chocolate Cake or my Candy Cane Pretzel Chocolate Cupcakes to celebrate. If that seems like too much work, you can always make my Coffee Cup Chocolate Cake in your microwave. Whatever you do, you should celebrate this glorious day!

I put my Apple Watch back on this week after a 3 month hiatus.  The biggest issue I have with my watch is remembering to charge it, which is what lead to my break. One day I didn’t charge it and I threw it into my bag, and there it sat for the next few months.  I am looking forward to getting back to tracking my steps, checking the weather, and seeing text messages with a flick of my wrist.  Let’s see if I can get back to 10K steps, day one back was pathetic, I only did 4,834 steps. YUCK!  I better get my tushy moving more!

Does anyone have any good book ideas? I told you that my goal is to finish the book I am reading by the end of January, so I can start something new. I want something light, and a quick read. With winter dragging on, and the crazy media lately, I want a story I can mindlessly fall into.  I am taking recommendations, so leave me a comment below.

Tonight The Hubby and I are going to see the Gin Blossoms and Collective Soul.  90’s throwback! I think I will wear a scrunchy, some leg warmers and tease my bangs. Wouldn’t that be fun? I look forward to seeing how excited The Hubby gets when her hears a song he knows.  These concert tickets were part of his Christmas present, and he has not stopped talking about them since he received them. I am really hoping the night lives up to all the excitement.

I am turning into a Yelper! For years I have had friends who are Elite Yelpers, but I have never really jumped all into the yelping scene. I have always used yelp as a go to source for new restaurant ideas, and I have always said I should start writing reviews.  This year is the year, I am going to start yelping about everywhere I go. I had even though about writing blog posts about restaurants in the past, but didn’t feel they would be meaty enough posts. Would you read a blog post of restaurant reviews? I am going to continue to noodle on that idea, but I in the mean while I will be over on Yelp, yelping the place up. Check out my profile {or even add me as a friend} and you can check out what I think about the local food scene in the Twin Cities. Oh did I mention, a close friend who just started yelping, became Elite? My competitive spirit went into over drive, which really was my kick to start yelping 😉

Chinese New Year is tomorrow!  The Hubby and I plan to spend the day with his dad to celebrate. I am on cooking duties again this year. It will be only the three of us, so it won’t be to much to make a meal, however, on actual New Years Day, we try to eat vegetarian. Normally, The Hubby has a really hard time going a whole day not eating meat. After a few years, I have learned how to make enough Asian dishes, that feel hardy enough that he doesn’t complain too much about no meat for one days.  Even if your family does not celebrate Chinese New Year, today or tomorrow would be a good day to join in the celebration and have some Asian food! Here are a few recipes you might like to try: Shrimp Stir Fry, Pan Fried Noodles , Brussels Sprout Ramen Noodle Salad  or Chinese Broccoli with Garlic Oyster Sauce.

I am just going to leave this here for your Friday listening pleasure!

XOXO,

Rachel
