January Reading

Life goal for 2012- Read 2 books each month of the year. January = Accomplished!

I might not have picked the most difficult two books to read this month, or the most classic, but they were sure fun to read!

The Hunger Games, and Catching Fire, the first two books in the Hunger Games Trilogy caught my attention and did not let go.  I flew through the first book and quickly picked up the second book.

Since I started reading this story I have been caught in this epic battle of who I want Katniss to end up with, Gale or Peeta.  Of course Peeta seems like the natural fit, but Gale is her best friend. Don’t they say the guy you marry should be your best friend?  Gale might be able to snare a rabbit, but Peeta gave her bread when she was a little starving girl.  Both men hopelessly in love with her, and she is totally blind to it. I guess what can you expect of a 16 year old girl?

Have you read these books? Who do you think she should pick? Also- will I find out in book 3?

Interesting. I am torn apart by the love story of the book, not the fact that the books are about 24 teenage kids sent into an area where only one  of them can come out alive.  Horrifying concept.  The thought of any society being able to treat lives like this scares me.  The second book was highly intriguing though… I don’t want to give too much away so I will stop at that.

I am glad I picked up the most recent book sensation.  I however, I am months behind my friends, who picked up the series before it became popular. I normally do that… oh well.

If you haven’t read these books, please go get them or find a friend to borrow them from. They are simply fun reads!

I am off to go start book number 3! Maybe I will get through 3 books this month, wouldn’t that be a feat!
