Ok- after a few fun recipes, I have decided to finish telling you about my mini detox that I completed during September.
Looking back at the 10 days and reading my reactions to day 1-4, I wanted to chuckle. I was a big baby, but you know your body really does determine your mood. Feeling hungry and changing my calorie intake really sent my body into shock and it rebelled. By day 8-10 I would say my attitude toward the detox had changed, even though I was so ready for it to be over.
Day 8-9:
I had finally accepted the detox. I was eating larger portions during meals. Snacking on regular intervals. Everything I was eating was good for me too. I felt really great. Also, I was experiencing an attitude adjustment. I felt very empowered that I had days left in this goal . I was able to adjust to a new diet, find ways to eat filling food and maintain my energy levels. Above is a hearty soup that I made for myself during the detox that really made me feel full.
Overall feeling for the day: empowered and excited for this to almost be over.
Day 10:
What am I going to eat first? What have I missed most? Really not the questions I should be thinking about, but I was. I was thinking about what would taste best for my re-acclamation to a none restricted diet world. What I wanted most was pasta, and some type if meat. Any type of meat, chicken, beef or pork. I plotted what would be my first meal. Also, I will have to admit that my detox actually ended at dinner on day 10. My co-worker headed to NYC for a vacation and we decided we could start eating normal that evening. For dinner, idid go out to eat and I had half of a cheese burger, and 2 chicken wings. I was proud of this. I normally would eat half a plate of wings and a whole cheese burger, but I didn’t even feel hungry enough to do that. Stopping when I was hungry was a great feeling. I knew that my biggest goal of the detox had worked. I was able to eat only as much as my body needed, not eating until I felt sick.
Overall feeling for the day: DONE! 🙂
Thinking back, I am proud of myself for making it though 10 days. I was able to think about my eating habits, and spent more time focusing on what I was actually putting into my body each meal. In the weeks since the detox I have found that I took some good habits away from it. Snacks are now apple sauce, pears, cheerios or almonds. I eat less at meals, but more often. Now, I would have to say that the detox did not fully change the way I eat, but it did show me that I can change and I can have a healthier diet 🙂
