Howdy My Urban Oven received a Face… er… Theme Lift last week. Did you notice? Maybe not, because I haven’t posted for a while and you didn’t have a reason to come visit me. Well unless you knew there was a recipe here that you wanted, so knowing that, I hope you did notice.
I decided it was time to update the look of this blog, along with some of its functionality.
Some update you will see:
You will notice in the top right corner, you will now find links to all of my social media pages, as well as a email button. I am hoping this will help us connect quicker and more often! I post all types of things on my Facebook page; articles from magazines, posts from other blogs I follow, photos of what is happening in my life, {coming soon} contests, and so much more. My Instagram is my most active social media vehicle; photos of my life, quick #lifehacks, easy recipes, and many more unique things to just IG. Twitter is not my favorite place to post, but I do, and would love to have more followers. Follow me on Twitter and I will follow you back!
There is also now a “Home” button on the top left! This is a big win for me!! But might not seem that exciting for others. My last Theme didn’t allow {or I couldn’t figure it out}, for a button to bring you back to the home screen once you were a few pages in. Now you have it, and it works like a charm. Your blog life at My Urban Oven just got so much easier, and you didn’t even know it was hard.
The Page bar will now scroll with you as you scroll down. This feature is super nice to have! It will allow for easier navigation for readers. Its all about you guys! You can jump around the site a lot faster if you are knee deep in a post and just want to go back to the archive. Or decide you want to read more about Beachbody because the post was about Beachbody and you have not idea what that is. The ability to click and find out more is right there at the top of your screen always.
I FINALLY have added an Instagram feed on the right navigation bar. I have always wanted one of these, and covet other blogs that have them, so I feel I have finally arrived!
I love IG, like seriously FREAKEN love IG!! And my IG followers. Follow me on IG @MyUrbanOven. You get the first hand preview of what is coming to the blog, and what crazy things are happening in my life. Or not so crazy, and sometimes boring things. I will let you be the judge. But you need to follow me first, so get on that!
Last, one final change this new theme will offer, each post now will show up with a small blurb, and a read more button. I hope this will make reading the specific post you wanted easier, as well as clean up the Home page. No more needing to scroll through a whole post to get to another post when you land on the Home page. Much cleaner look.
There are so many other features that this Theme will offer me that you haven’t even seen yet. I can’t wait to test them out, and make the layout and functionality of this blog easier for YOU! Keep watching, I got tricks you haven’t even seen yet 😉
OH and one more thought- Things you won’t see anymore:
The old My Urban Oven Logo. I have retired the logo from the blog, and will be working on developing a new one. The current/retired logo, was made by me in a few minutes, splicing together a few photos and adding some text. Fast forward 3 years and I know SO much more about blogging and editing, that a revamp is in order. Right now you will notice a generic graphic as the blog title. Know a new one is coming, soon!
