Did you know thatWorld Pasta Month??
I swear every day is a different “national -filling in the blank- day”. I feel like I can hardly keep up with all of these days, let alone participate in them. I normally notice them at 10 pm while scrolling through Instagram, and by that time it is a little to late to run out to get a donut or doughnut, whichever one we are celebrating that day.
Now, a WHOLE month of PASTA, that is a month I can get behind.
One thing I love making for family meals is a big batch of pasta. You can always please a crowd with a big helping of pasta. The pickiest of eaters love pasta.
Random fun fact: Americans consume 6 billion pounds of pasta each year with the average American consuming 20 pounds of pasta annually.
Thanks is one big food baby if you ask me!
I don’t think I have ever met anyone in my life that doesn’t like pasta.
Although, I always love feeding my family at home. We also frequently like to go out with our family for dinner. With my parents and siblings living almost 2 hours away, sometimes for special occasions we meet in a town halfway between our houses for dinner. One place we enjoy going is Buca di Beppo. My grandmother almost always asks to go out for pasta when we are with her. I secretly believe it is because my grandpa is a true german farmer, and believes a meal should be made up of meat and potatoes. He really doesn’t like pasta, and my grandma loves it, so she likes to get it when we go out to dinner. She also always asks to share. She never really eats a whole meal, so it is a perfect for everyone dinning with her. My favorite thing about Bucca {more fondly known as in our family} is that the dishes are served family style, which allows the group to order a few different dishes and everyone can try a little of everything.
Of course during World Pasta Month Buca is doing something special. Create your own pasta bowl! Pick your noodles, Pick your Veggies, Pick your Protein, Pick your Sauce, then finally Pick your Seasoning. All for a promotional price.
For all the picky eats our there, or people like me that like to have control over “recipes”, this is a perfect menu option!
Looking at the menu, I have pre-planned my order for our Buca visit during October:
Penne Noodles, Alfredo Sauce, Mushrooms, Spinach, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Prosciutto and poached garlic
-or-
Cavatappi Noodles, Pesto Sauce, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Artichokes, Chicken and poached garlic
Don’t those sound fabulous? Know what is even better? For all of you out there pushing your nose up at the idea of having mushrooms in you food, yes I know who you are, you can pick from 8 other veggies instead!
However, I dare you to try a mushroom again. I swear they will grow on you. Not literally, only figuratively.
If the build your own pasta hasn’t convinced you to grab dinner at Buca maybe a sefie contest will??
