You know that little kid excitement that washes over you when you receive a new toy? Or when your mom gives you a piece of candy at 4? That was the same excitement I felt when my friend told me about a cooking contest that Pillsbury was hosting. I was over the moon. I went right to work thinking about what recipe I wanted to submit. Then I thought, maybe I would write a new one. My creative juices were running….
Jump forward to the superbowl. With my football guests as guinea pigs, I tested out the new recipe. Rave reviews. I was ecstatic! The only thing left to do was type it up, and submit it to Pillsbury.
Submit: that was where things went a little off course.
I typed up the recipe on the night of February 6th, with a deadline of February 7th at 11:59pm.
Submit…
Sumbit, it wasn’t that easy. I was nervous. My stomach was doing somersaults. What if my recipe was rejected and axed in the first round? What if I really took it all the way to the end and competed in Vegas?
Oh the pressure.
I decided I would go to bed and submit before the deadline on February 7th at 11:59pm.
Both The Boy and I set our alarms for 11pm on February 7th to ensure I didn’t forget to submit. I couldn’t risk going to bed on the 7th forgetting to send in my recipe. The Boy was super excited for me, and super confused why I had not just submitted on the 6th. Boys just don’t understand girls.
Alarms start dinging at 11pm, and The Boy brought the laptop to me and says. “SUBMIT!”
I logged in….
And cannot submit… There is no submit button… What is going on?
RE-READING those things they call RULES…… the deadline was February 7th at 11:59AM!
12 hours late…I was crushed. Still slightly crushed…
However, I realized how silly I was for putting off submitting my recipe. Going forward this girl is going to put herself out there more. More on this blog, more in my cooking and baking, more in trying to follow my passions, more in my job, just more!
The one saving grace of this whole situation… the competition has 3 different rounds of submissions. Back to the drawing board to create something new for the Dessert or Breakfast portion of the contest!
Wish me luck!
And better reading skills!

Big bummer! I’d love to know what your recipe is though! Superbowl deliciousness has to be good any time of the year!
