I FINISHED!! 3 Days done, and I am all Refreshed!
And you know what, it wasn’t all that bad! Normally people talk about Detoxing or Cleansing, and you feel miserable for them. I am pretty sure what I shared with my co-workers when I wasn’t going on our normal lunch run sounded miserable too. Veggies, Fruit, and a Vanilla Shake for lunch? Not the same as a Chipotle Burrito bowl. But as the person doing it, I felt great.
Above is a photo of what a typical day on the 3 Day Refresh looked like for me.
- Upon Waking- 8 oz glass of water
- Breakfast-Shakeology + 1 fruit serving (banana)
- Snack- Tea (optional)
- Snack- Fiber Sweep
- Lunch- Vanilla Refresh Shake, 1 fruit serving (strawberries or apple), 1 veggie serving (carrots) & 1 healthy fat (hummus)
- Snack- 1 veggie serving (carrots or broccoli) & 1 healthy fat serving (hummus or guac)
- Snack- Tea (optional)
- Dinner- Vanilla Refresh Shake, 1 Dinner Recipe from cookbook (coconut steamed veggies)
- Snack- 1 cup vegetable broth (optional)
- Snack- Tea (optional)
- PLUS- 80 oz of water.
And all of the above were meant to be spaced 1 hour apart, so basically I felt like I was eating ALL day long. I calculated the calories for one day worth of food, and it was roughly 1000 calories with a ton of water. The water in the fiber sweep and the vanilla shakes didn’t count toward the total = lots of water!
So how did the days go? If you follow me on Instagram you saw a few posts on how things went, but I will expand some more here too.
Day one: The morning was very much like my normal morning, minus being able to add peanut butter to my shake. I had slept well and was ready to start Tuesday. Mid-morning, I had to physic myself up to drink the fiber sweep. It looked so grainy and gross when I mixed it up, I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to down it. I did work up the courage after 10 minutes and tried to down it like it was a very large shot. You know it wasn’t all that bad. The afternoon went by fine, but by 4:00 pm, I was starving, and really wanted some rice or bread. After work I immediately made myself the veggie broth, which held me over until 7:00 pm when I made myself the shake and dinner option. I also took a nap after the veggie broth, I was feeling sluggish. I went to be around my normal time of 11:00 pm feeling hungry. I slept terribly all night! I had the chills, then the sweats, then the chills again, all night long. I contributed it to the toxins working their way out of my body.
Day two: When I woke up, I was feeling sluggish from the poor sleep, but still powered through with my 3 Day Refresh routine. I had the same morning routine, and the same lunch for day two; carrots, hummus, strawberries and the vanilla refresh shake. One small cheat I did make during the refresh was that for my healthy fat I use store bought guacamole instead of the 1/4 avocado they said you could use. I picked the Wholly Guacamole minis because they have about 1/4 of an avocado in them, they are organic, and the ingredients were on the “guilt-free flavorings” list. By dinner, I had figured out that spacing out my dinner options worked best. I had the broth when I came home, then the veggies at the same time The Hubby ate dinner, and the shake an hour or 2 later. Spacing out the evening food really helped me not feel like I was starving when I went to bed. However, I still was craving a good carb! Wednesday night, I slept like a rock! The complete opposite of night one.
Day three: I woke up super rested, and felt great starting the day. I followed my routine of the 2 days prior. After I finished my last fiber sweep, I sent a photo to my coach friend telling her I had downed my last one. It felt good being done with those. They weren’t terrible, just not pleasant. Lunch was more of the same as the two days prior, but I had an apple instead of strawberries. Post lunch, I had so much energy. It was the weirdest thing! I flew through work, and then wrote an email to my coach friend Jena telling her all about how I was feeling. The energy really pumped me up, and I decided to write down some goals for myself. The energy and motivation felt so good, and I completely think the refresh helped with that. Not having the heavy carbs for 3 days weighing me down, and really focusing on fruits, veggies and water, did wonders for my mind and body. I maintained my level of energy through the night, and did a ton of work on my blog and Beachbody business that night. No nap. The night before I had mastered the food spacing, and I followed it again for the last night. I do have to admit one more small cheat I had during the Refresh. Whenever I made myself the broth, I added 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms and one chopped green onion to the broth. It helped the broth seem more substantial. The Hubby even liked it that way, and we plan to have it more often. It is a really quick soup to have when feeling hungry, for under 50 calories! I went to bed feeling accomplished and “refreshed”.
Now for what I know you all want to hear- the RESULTS!
{I know it looks like the same outfit, but I wanted the pants to match so it looked accurate for change, and the top is different, I just <3 hot pink tops- I have 3 ;)}
- Weight down 4.2lbs
- Inches down 5 inches (total body)
- Feeling: Less bloated, super energized and toxin free
You will also notice, these are the first EVER before and after photos I have posted of myself. I am pretty embarrassed of how my body looks- most of my photos are selfies of the shoulders up. But, when I had such good results with the 3 Day Refresh, and the results were noticeable in a photo, I felt I needed to share this time. Let’s hope I don’t regret showing these photos the moment I press publish… eeek!
